Shane Power has been an avid photographer for the past 25 years. Shane is an award winning photographer who was born and raised in Port Alberni, B.C. and moved to Victoria 6 years ago

Prior to moving to Victoria Shane owned a photography business in Port Alberni where he specialized in custom framing, weddings, family and group portraits as well as wild life and sports photography. Shane grew up around Photography as his Dad was also a professional photographer. Growing up Shane was able to tag along with his father while he took pictures. Shane’s father is known world wide for his photographs of the 1964 Alaska tsunami which caused huge damages in Port Alberni. His work can be viewed at the Alberni Valley Museum and has been shown on television and published in magazines around the world.
Shane is also well known as a freelance photographer taking photographs for various newspapers on Vancouver Island. Shane’s photographs have been published in Time Life Books, and is the recipient of a Kodak International Newspaper Snapshot award otherwise known as KINSA. This photo competition was run internationally in 160 newspapers. There were over half a million entries, 257 winners and Shane was one of the lucky winners.
Both classically and self taught Shane has a keen eye and sees beauty in everything. People are amazed that they can be looking at the same thing as he is, but miss his unique perspective and perception. Luckily, he has the talent to capture these images so he can share with us what he sees.
Shane is also an accomplished local sports photographer. He has been taking picture's for BCHL from 2002 to 2009. Shane all so was the photographer for Alberni Drag Racing in Port Alberni.
Shane was also the official photographer for the British Columbia Summer and British Columbia Winter Games held in Port Alberni, B.C.
